ONLINE WORKSHOP: Hand-building Rustic and Organic forms, Feb 22nd, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM CST
In this two hour online workshop, we will delve into how to hand-build natural, organic-looking forms using non-traditional techniques. Beginning with a simple pinch pot, we will learn to create a weathered exterior and then transition into making plates and bowls with rustic edges. In the second half, we will build upon the technique we explored on the pinch pot and use it on more complex forms like the double walled bowl or the rock bowl. Finally, we will learn how to make rock-lidded jars using the “kurinuki” process, a technique which involves hollowing out the interior after shaping the solid form.
Things to consider:
- The focus of this workshop will solely be on the building process. We will not be able to go into any aspects of glazing due to time constraints.
- This workshop is open to all levels.
